I guess it’s not really a detour, more like an unplanned stop. One that needs to be made. When CM and I started this whole process we wanted to teach our kids about the world. What better starting place than New Orleans? Widget is in the back drawing and I keep glancing back at him wondering how everything he sees on this journey will change him.

Today was a pretty laid back day. We are visiting my dad and brother in Warner Robins, GA. We used to live here about 5 years ago. As a matter of fact, this is where Widget was born. We hope that having an RV will allow us to make more frequent trips to see our family.

Wow! I’m beginning to notice that gas is really starting to add up. CM has a miles per gallon tracking tool and he says that our first two tanks got 15 MPGs and the next one got a little over 17 MPGs, but the last one got only 14 MPGs. He thinks it was because we were going over a lot of hills on that tank.

Here’s the breakdown:

Gas – $188.93
Snacks – $4.99
Total – $193.92

Keeping track of the Day 1, Day 2, etc. was starting to stress me out, so I’m just including dates from now on.

We drove and drove and drove and finally made it to Georgia. We’re here to visit the grandparents and to park our gas-guzzling Honda Odyssey. We plan on leaving it here for at least the next six months. On the way down here we saw a few RVs towing golf carts with off-road tires. I’m going to have to do some research to see what that’s about.

Anyhoo, it wasn’t any fun driving separately. I was stressed trying to stay awake and CM was stressed because he couldn’t hear the kids from the driver’s seat of the RV. We stopped a few times to give the kids some exercise, but overall I think the pace was too fast.

I know, I know, I’m behind on my finances. I have all of the receipts next to the computer and I promise to post them first thing in the morning.

So last night I was inspired to change the look of our blog. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to finish tweaking it. I apologize, I promise I’ll have everything cleaned up by Monday.

I think this new theme will work a lot better for us because I planning on adding a lot of photos and videos to the site. Besides, if things don’t work out I can always switch back to the old theme.
