Just a note on something I saw on Craigslist that I thought was funny. To sell all of our stuff we posted it on Craigslist. I looked on there today, like have in the past few days, to look up the prices of some our remaining items. To my surprise on the NYC Craigslist there are multiple pages of things listed “Fire Sale” on Craigslist. I thought it was quite funny that we started a trend on NYC Craigslist. Maybe we can start another with making a change in lifestyle.

Okay, so have you ever thought you were getting a certain amount of money for something and so before you got it you already planned how you were going to spend it? Well that just happened to me. I thought the last 5% of our RV goal was going to be covered by a lump sum I was expecting. Today I called to make sure and I was told that my account is “Paid in full.” Translation=No more money!

We scrounged around the house looking for more stuff to put on Craigslist to make up the 4 figure difference. What do we do? I’m sick to my stomach and I can’t bring myself to call the dealer and tell him we can’t pick it up on Friday because we are short.

These are some of the most difficult times in life for me. When everything seems to be working against me, what do I do? Do I quit because it’s some higher power is putting obstacles in front of me to prevent me from making a huge mistake? Or do I stay persistent and determined so that I’ll appreciate it more when I get it?

Our couches are gone, our computer is gone, and our TVs are gone. How can we turn back now?

Is there anybody out there? What would you do?

My entire computer is gone and I feel empty. It’s lame, but true. All these people from Craigslist kept writing me questions about its specs and when could they pick it up. I told CM it was the equivalent of other women writing me about my husband and I was forced to say, “Yeah, you should really sleep with him. He’s great. He’s gonna rock your world.” Seriously? Yeah, seriously.

That computer is MY BABY! I know the old saying, “You can’t take it with you when you go.” But at least when you “go” you don’t have to see the empty computer desk taunting you. This morning CM is at the grocery store. I’m tempted to pack up the kids and head straight to the Apple store for a bigger, better computer and ditch this whole RV’ing thing. Then I tabbed over to a browser window I had opened yesterday and I saw this:

I want to show my kids places like these.

….Or maybe I can just set it as my wallpaper on my shiny new 30″ cinema display and my kids can “see” it every day!

Show Me The Money (KJ)

A lot of people have written me concerning our Fire Sale ads on Craigslist and eBay. If we sell just the few things that we were written about then we will easily meet our goal and be on our way to starting a new life. However, there’s a huge difference between writing to say you’re interested in an item and actually handing over the money for it.

I’ll admit that I was a little disappointed that we didn’t find someone who wanted to buy everything at once, but oh well, a little hard work never killed anyone. Most people that write are interested in the computers. The thought of selling my G5 gives me mixed emotions. Part of me is sad and really dreads the idea because the G5 is my baby. On the other hand, I miss out on so many great interactions with my kids because my nose is glued to the computer screen.

That’s what this new life is supposed to be about: strengthening our family ties. I asked CM if there was room for the computer if I only kept one t-shirt and a pair of jeans. That request got no love.

As of 12:30 today, we have met 79.69% of our RV purchase goal!!
